ODM leader Raila Odinga has pledged to revive the economy during his tour to Murang’a County on Saturday.

Raila pitched champ at Ihura Stadium where he outlined his agenda for the people of Murang’a County and Kenya as a whole.

The former premier appealed to the youth to become part of Kenya’s third liberation, which is based on the restoration of the country’s economy.

“We are fighting for the country’s economy and this time I am calling on the Kenyan youths and everybody to be part of this quest,” Raila said.


Raila defended his pledge for the Sh6,000 stipend for every household under the social protection program and scoffed at his opponents for trying to discredit his plan, by claiming Kenya does not have that kind of money.

“Tangatanga people say I am lying and claim there is no money. I would like to ask them why they are getting involved in matters that do not concern them,” Raila said.

Raila said he has worked in the government, therefore, knows where there are loopholes through which the government loses money.


"I know where the money is. I have served this country as the prime minister for six years, so I know where the money is. I know where those people breach our treasury and siphon public funds. I will block all those loopholes and save enough money to finance the program," he said.

Raila also proved holes in Deputy President William Ruto’s economic model, dismissing it as unrealistic.

“Their agenda is unrealistic. We do not want our youths to push wheelbarrows,” Raila said.
