The MKF and Maa community declared their support for Raila in a written declaration which was read by Kajiado Governor Joseph Ole Lenku on Tuesday in Nairobi during a luncheon they held with the ODM leader.

The two communities declared in one voice and in finality that together they shall campaign and elect Raila as the 5th president of Kenya.

“We, the people of MKF and Maa, thereby declare in one accord and finality that we shall together campaign for and elect Odinga as the next president of the Republic of Kenya,” Lenku read.

Lenku said the two communities came together and now speak in one voice, supporting the continuation of President Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy through the ODM leader under the umbrella of his Azimio la Umoja movement.

“The people of Mount Kenya and Maa community stand together as one to declare our support for the continuation of Uhuru Kenyatta’s legacy with Raila Odinga through Azimio la Umoja,” read the statement.

The leaders from the two communities said they opted to support Raila’s presidential bid because they felt safe under Azimio noting its vision, values and principles represent the Kenya they envisage.

“We feel safe under Azimio because the vision, values and principles best represent the Kenya we want to see and they include; unity and inclusion, economic prosperity, social welfare, no to corruption and business agriculture/pastoralism,” the statement read in part,

The leaders from the two communities pledged to support Raila, maintain peace and stability and shun ethnic politics ahead of the August general elections.
