The Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has identified the cause of continuous power outage in some parts in parts of Nairobi and its environs.

According to KPLC, a technical fault on the Suswa-Embakasi high voltage transmission power line tripped electricity cutting suply to parts of Nairobi on Tuesday evening.

"We have identified the technical fault on the Suswa - Embakasi high voltage transmission power line that tripped electricity, cutting supply to parts of Nairobi yesterday evening," KPLC said.

KPLC said engineers from the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) are currently working towards restoring the power supply to the affected area.

"Engineers from the Kenya Electricity Transmission Company (KETRACO) are on site to repair the line and pave way for restoration of normal power supply by 5 pm this evening," KPLC added.

Areas affected by the outage include parts of Embakasi, Kitengela, Athi River, Industrial Area, parts of Langata, Jamhuri, Kilimani and Kileleshwa, the Nairobi Central Business District, Hurlingham, Syokimau and Westlands.

Since the collapse of high voltage power towers on the Kiambere-Embakasi power line, many areas have experienced long hours of power outage as KPLC works to restore full power supply to all the affected areas.
