A police officer of a junior rank is reported to have assaulted his boss in Tigania East, Meru County on Tuesday.

Stephen Lenairoshi is said to have attacked Mikinduri Police Station OCS Patrick Wambugu after his boss confronted him for reporting to work while drunk.

The report with the police indicated that Wambugu had assigned Lenairoshi to accompany Meru Deputy County Commissioner Stephen Ogolla to a sensitisation session for Covid-19.

It is then that the OCS summoned the junior cop to his office to instruct him on how to execute with the task that awaited him.

The police report filed under OB Number 24/01/12/2020 indicated that he appeared intoxicated prompting his boss to question him.

Lenairoshi irked by the move instead turned on his boss and punched him several times in the face.

Fellow officers and members of the public rushed to the scene to rescue the senior from his drunk and irate junior.

Lenairoshi was arrested and will be charged with assault.
