A woman arrested over links to a house party that was attended by 44 teenagers in Mountain View estate in Nairobi will be held for a week.

This is after the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) applied to detain 41-year-old Millicent Kithinji to allow its officers to conclude their investigation.

The 44 minors were reportedly found engaging in sex and partaking of alcohol in Kithinji’s house and she will now be held by police for seven days.

Milimani Court Senior Principal Magistrate Kennedy Cheruiyot ordered she be held until Monday as cops collect evidence tying her to child trafficking.

The DCI is probing a suspected child trafficking syndicate that it believes also exposes the children to sexual abuse, prostitution and pornography.

Kithinji was ordered to be held at Kabete Police Station together with David Wambui, George Muthoni and Michael Morega said to be her accomplices.

Corporal Julius Oguma of Dagoretti DCI offices said condoms, empty alcohol bottles and bhang were retrieved from Kithinji’s house during the raid.

“The teenagers were being exposed to pornography and drugs in presence of Kithinji and Morenga. Mr. Wambu and George Muthoni were involved in the supply of drugs and alcohol to the teenagers,” Oguma said in court.

Police believe Kithinji’s son informed her of all events happening in her house in Mountain view estate and that she witnessed the said events.

Police raided the house following alarm by neighbours and nabbed 26 boys and 18 girls aged between 14 and 17, who are primary and secondary school students.

The learners from Nairobi, Kiambu and Machakos counties are believed to have been lured into the house party via various social media platforms.

They have been handed over to the Department of Children Services as police conclude their investigations and the minors’ parents involved.
