Politicians allied to Deputy President William Ruto have reacted angrily to the government decision to revive the cases on the 2007-2008 Post-Election Violence (PEV).
The DP’s allies read malice in the announcement by George Kinoti, the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) boss, that his office officers will go after the poll chaos perpetrators.
Led by Kikuyu MP Kimani Ichung’wa and Elgeyo Marakwet senator Kipchumba, the perceived Jubilee Party rebels accused the state, via Kinoti, of seeking to derail Ruto’s presidential bid.
As soon as the DCI boss announced the revival of the PEV cases ahead of prosecution, the Ruto-allied MPs took to social media attacking Kinoti for them move they have termed as political.

The state announcement and reactions are expected to set a different political tune in the coming weeks, as the DP’s allies oppose the Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) referendum.
For 12 years there were no complaints, no complainants and Statements and no action from the DCI . Suddenly over 70 people today recorded statements on PEV. ???????????????? DCI Kinoti one would be tempted to congratulate you. But ooh No that is a sinister ,evil plan you have hatched.
