Seasoned politician and fashion icon, trailblazer Orie Rogo Manduli has died.

Manduli died on Wednesday at her Riverside home in Nairobi.

She was known for being bold and embraced being different and scored a series of firsts.

Manduli's star started shining when she was young and at only 15, she was crowned Miss East Africa.

Manduli was the first woman of African descent to take part in the East African Safari Rally in 1974 and 1975 at 19.

She was the woman to become the chairperson of the International Council of Women.

She was at one time a radio presenter at Voice of Kenya (VOK).

Among the notable personalities she interviewed was Ethiopian Prime Minister, the late Haile Selassie 

Manduli was considered a tough lady who championed women's rights.
