Tallying has started after voting ended at 6 pm in the Kiambaa parliamentary by-election.

The by-election, which is a two-horse race between Jubilee's Kariri Njama and UDA's Njuguna Wanjiku, is also touted as a test of political might ahead of the 2022 general election.

The make or break by-election for President Uhuru Kenyatta, who is pitted against his Deputy William Ruto, was occasioned by the death of MP Paul Koinange due to Covid-19 related complications.

Results have already started to trickle from the polling stations ahead of the announcement of the winner at the tallying center in Karuri either Thursday night or early Friday morning.

The fiercely fought by-election was, however, marred by voter aparthy as well as claims of voter bribery among other forms of electoral malpractice.
