More than 250 farmers from Eldoret and across the Rift Valley left the Safire Connect Forum on Tuesday equipped with digital solutions, financial knowledge, and the right networks to turn their farms into flourishing agribusinesses.

Hosted by Safaricom, the significant forum brought together farmers, agri-entrepreneurs, and other key players in agriculture and tech under one roof to learn, connect, and grow.

Safaricom Chief Consumer Business Officer Fawzia Ali-Kimanthi reiterated the telco’s commitment to supporting businesses to embrace technology to grow their business.

“Today, we have been able to equip over 250 farmers with financial tools and digital solutions, knowledge and networks that can help transform their farming into thriving agribusinesses,” said Ali-Kimanthi during the forum.

She added: “At Safaricom, we are committed to supporting businesses of different kinds as they embrace technology and take their businesses to the next level”.

The Safire Connect Forum was not your typical farmers' meet-up.

It featured a powerful mix of partners including Microsoft, DTB Bank, E-Mobilis, Centonomy, Strathmore Business School, TransUnion, and Cliffe Dekker Hofmeyr (CDH) offering support from digital literacy to legal insights for business.

Participants in Eldoret also got hands-on exposure to Safaricom’s innovative products which are custom-made to meet the practical needs of smallholder farmers.

These solutions by Safaricom include:

• DigiFarm – An agri-tech platform that gives farmers access to sustainable financing, quality inputs, extension services, and markets.

• Ziidi MMF, Fuliza ya Biashara, and Pochi la Biashara – Smart financial tools for business growth and cash flow management.

• Taasi Till and Taasi Pochi – To help entrepreneurs better organise their finances.

• Lipa na M-PESA – Enabling secure, cashless transactions for agribusinesses.

The forum was part of the ongoing M-PESA Sokoni Rift Edition caravan, which marks a week-long celebration of M-PESA@18 running from July 14 to 19, 2025.

The regional celebrations, which kicked off in Turbo, include roadshows, customer appreciation drives, and community engagements to boost digital and financial inclusion.

Safire Connect marks yet another key step to transforming agriculture via technology right from the grassroots as more farmers continue to recognise the value of digital solutions.
