Law Society of Kenya (LSK) President Nelson Havi is facing possible assault charges after CEO Mercy Wambua accused him of assault at the society’s offices on Gatanga Road in Nairobi.

Wambua says she filed a report over the assault at Muthangari Police Station on Monday under OB 34/12/7/2021, saying she sustained injuries on her right arm and finger.

According to the CEO, she sustained the injuries during a scuffle allegedly orchestrated by the President during an LSK council meeting held at the society’s boardroom.

She claims she joined Havi and 11 other council members allied to him for the meeting but she allegedly shouted at and forced out.

“He was there with legitimate council members allied to him as well as a team calling themselves caretaker members. Other legitimate council members joined online,” she said.

Wambua added that the LSK President allegedly accosted her, forced shut her laptop and shoved her and in the ugly confrontation caused her injuries on her arm and finger.

She said, “It was embarrassing and I was assaulted. This is wrong. I have also filled the P3 form for further police action.”

However, Havi has denied the claims by the LSK CEO instead accusing her of gatecrashing the council meeting while she was allegedly supposed to be on compulsory leave.

Wambua, who has been at loggerheads with Havi since he was elected LSK President, later told journalists that she wuld head to a hospital for a medical check over the alleged assault.

Havi had in October last year sacked her over alleged involvement in embezzlement of LSK funds, but she was reinstated after 9 of 13 council members voted to overturn his decision.
