The Kenya Pipeline Company (KPC) Foundation has unveiled a new health centre in Murang’a County, significantly enhancing healthcare access for residents of Wanjegi, Gituto, Gitige, and Waithaga.
The Sh8 Million facility, a collaborative effort with the Murang’a County Government, includes a state-of-the-art theatre, casualty centre, and a modern laboratory, aiming to address critical healthcare needs in the region.
This new facility is expected to provide essential services and ease the patient load on the Murang’a County Referral Hospital, particularly benefiting those referred from other local medical centres lacking operating theatres.
Irene Wachira, a Board Trustee of the KPC Foundation, underscored the significance of the new health centre in alleviating healthcare costs.
“Nearly 2.6 million people in our country plunge into poverty or remain poor each year due to high healthcare costs. By providing affordable and accessible healthcare services, we can help prevent families from falling into poverty and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to live a healthy life,” she remarked.

Wachira continued, “In this regard, the KPC Foundation endeavours to enhance healthcare provision for grassroots communities across the country through CSI activities anchored under our health pillar. Through collaborative efforts with local stakeholders and community members, we labour to achieve our goal of ensuring equitable healthcare access for all and I am confident that this facility will make a significant impact in improving the overall health and well-being of the residents in this region.”
Dr. Fredrick Mbugua, the County Executive Committee Member for Health, expressed his gratitude towards the KPC Foundation.
“The support from KPC Foundation will elevate Murang’a County’s health provision services. We register a lot of non-communicable diseases cases in this locality and we are delighted that the community here can now get treatment from Wanjegi Health Centre as opposed to visiting level 4 and 5 hospitals,” he said.
The opening of this health centre marks the seventh such project undertaken by the KPC Foundation, following the successful establishment of similar facilities in Mombasa, Laikipia, Kitui, Meru, and Bungoma counties.
