Health CS Mutahi Kagwe announced on Sunday that the long awaited Covid-19 vaccine will land in Kenya from Tuesday.

Kagwe said the government will give first priority to frontline health care workers in the country.

The CS also announced that 325 people tested positive for Coronavirus in Kenya out of 3,282 samples tested in the past 24 hours.

“The total confirmed positive cases are now 105,973. The cumulative tests so far conducted are 1,298,838,” he said.

Kagwe said that 296 of the new patients are Kenyans while 29 are foreigners.

Similarly, 245 of them are males and 80 are females, with the youngest being one-year-old baby and the oldest 85.

At the same time, 69 patients recovered from the virus; 58 from Home Based and Isolation Care and 11 from various health facilities across Kenya.

Total virus recoveries in Kenya now stand at 86,678.

However, two Coronavirus patients succumbed to the disease raising Kenya’s cumulative fatalities to 1,856.

347 patients remain admitted in various health facilities across the country while 1,495 others are on Home Based Isolation and Care.

The CS said 58 patients are in the ICU, 26 on ventilatory support and 28 on supplemental oxygen as 4 patients remain on observation.

15 more patients are separately on supplementary oxygen with 14 admitted in the general wards.

However, one patient is in the High Dependency Unit (HDU).

This comes amid a fresh surge in Covid-19 cases in Kenya as most people let their guards down as politicians also hold their campaign with little care for Covid-19 protocols.
