A total of 337 more people tested positive for Covid-19 on Monday out of 2,924 samples tested in the last 24 hours, amid fears by medical experts that Kenya could be experiencing the third wave of the pandemic.

According to the Ministry of Health, the new Coronavirus confirmed infections have pushed the total confirmed cases across Kenya to 109,164. 

MOH said 311 of the new patients are Kenyans while 26 are foreigners, with 198 being male and 139 female. 

The youngest of the new virus sufferers is a one-month-old infant and the oldest is aged 85, according the data released by the Health Ministry headed by Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe. 

In his statement, Kagwe revealed that 53 patients recovered from the virus; 32 from Home-Based Care and Isolation and 21 were discharged from various health facilities countrywide. 

The total recoveries from Covid-19 in Kenya rose to 87,623 in the past 24 hours, even as the CS revealed that three patients died from the virus raising cumulative fatalities in Kenya to 1,879. 

The 337 new cases were confirmed across Kenyan counties as follows;

• Mombasa 5

• Nyeri 5

• Laikipia 4

• Nakuru 4

• Machakos 4

• Kisii 2

• Vihiga 2

• Uasin Gishu 2

• Makueni 2

• Meru 1

• Murang’a 1

• Siaya 1

• Kisumu 1

• Garissa 1

• Kilifi 1
