Grammy Award winning RnB singer Ashanti Douglas tested positive for Coronavirus after her recent trip to Nairobi.
Ashanti revealed her Covid status on her social media pages, expressing her disappointment that she got the virus which has put her Verzuz session with Keyshia Cole on the line.
"I can't believe I'm saying this, but I tested positive for Covid-19. I'm ok and not in any pain. I'm actually down to do the verzuz from my house...we're trying to figure it all out!" she said.
Ashanti was in Kenya last week and even visited Nairobi National Park at a time US Centre for Disease Control (CDC) had warned Americans against visiting Kenya among other countries citing a high risk of contracting Covid-19.
When the singer landed back home she tested positive for the virus days later and shared the new on Instagram and directed to go into quarantine for 14 days.
The Happy and Foolish singer however clarified that she did not get the virus on her travel to Kenya.
“Yes, I’ve been travelling. Yes, I was in Nairobi and I had an amazing time. And no, I did not get Covid from travelling. I did not get covid from being in Africa or anything like that,” she clarified.
She added, “I actually got it from a family member when I came home. So, I hugged a family member that ended up being positive.”
We at Swala Nyeti with her a quick recovery as we look forward to her Verzuz with Keyshia Cole.
