President Uhuru Kenyatta on Tuesday presided over the ground breaking ceremony for the construction of the 700-bed capacity Kenya National Research and Referral Hospital (KNRRH).
The mega-hospital is being constructed at Kabete Army Barracks in Kiambu County and is expected to be a Level 6 hospital once completed.
KNRRH is expected to offer specialized health services to the military, other security formations as well as members of the public to ease the pressure on other health facilities in the region.
President Kenyatta said the construction of the health facility is part of the Government’s efforts to achieve the Universal Health Coverage (UHC) pillar as contained in the Big 4 Agenda.
The Head of State was received at the Kabete Army Barracks by Ministry of Defence Cabinet Secretary Dr Monica Juma and Chief of the Kenya Defence Forces, General Robert Kibochi.
