Nairobi Institute of Business Studies (NIBS) mourns the loss of its esteemed founder, Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike, who breathed her last on Sunday at the age of 72.

A visionary educator, Wanyoike not only founded NIBS but also left an indelible mark on countless lives through her educational endeavours.

Wanyoike's impact extended beyond NIBS, as she was also the founder of Lizzie Preparatory Schools and the acclaimed Emory Hotel. Her family, in an official statement, reflected on her legacy, stating, "In loving memory of a remarkable educator. Her passion ignited minds, her kindness touched hearts. A beacon of wisdom, she left an indelible mark on countless lives, shaping the future with grace."

She pursued her education at Kenyatta University College, now Kenyatta University (KU), graduating with a diploma in education.

Her journey into the world of education took flight after opening a secretarial training college in Nairobi, a venture initiated in partnership and later pursued independently.

In the year 2000, drawing from her passion for education and armed with a capital of Sh6 million, half of which was secured as credit from Equity Bank, Wanyoike launched the Nairobi Institute of Business Studies.

What began with 25 students has since grown into an educational powerhouse with branches in Thika Town, Nairobi Central Business District (CBD), Kimbo, Ruiru, and Ong'ata Rongai, boasting over 7000 students today.

Celebrating a remarkable 24-year journey, NIBS Technical College has been a frontrunner in the realm of technical education.

From Artisan and Craft Certificates to Diplomas and Advanced Diplomas, the college offers an extensive range of courses.

However, what sets them apart is their commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practical application.

Beyond the realm of education, Wanyoike's entrepreneurial spirit led to the establishment of the Emory Hotel, a distinguished four-star establishment located in Kileleshwa.

Her multifaceted contributions to education and hospitality have left an enduring legacy, shaping the landscape of both industries.

As the news of her passing reverberates through the academic and business communities, plans for her funeral and memorial services are pending and will be announced by the family at a later date.

Lizzie Muthoni Wanyoike's life stands as a testament to the transformative power of education, kindness, and unwavering dedication to one's vision.
