Kenya Revenue Authority (KRA) has been recognized as among the best agencies in inclusion of persons living with disability (PLWDs) in Government Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDA's).

The National Council for Persons with Disabilities (NCPWD) says KRA got a notable 96 per cent performance score in the 2021-2022 fiscal year in its efforts to incorporate PLWD.

KRA was recognized for creating and applying policies and guidelines on disability mainstreaming in the workplace hence improving working conditions for KRA staff with disabilities.

The taxman was also acknowledged for leading the MDAs in providing equal employment opportunities for persons living with disabilities with 116 of its current falling under PLWDs.

In its assessment report, NCPWD lauded KRA for providing assistive devices and equipment, such as braille machines, hearing aids and mobility aids, to staff with disabilities to facilitate their work.

KRA acting Commissioner for Corporate Support Services Nancy Ng’etich thanked NCPWD for recognizing their efforts to create an inclusive work environment for all PLWDs.

Ng’etich said the tax collector will continue to invest in initiatives that improve the well-being of all its employees, without leaving behind its employees living with disabilities.

“We are committed to creating a work environment that promotes diversity, inclusivity, and equal opportunities for all,” said Ng’etich.

She added, “This recognition from the NCPWD is a testament to our efforts towards creating a workplace that is sensitive to the needs of persons with disabilities.”
