Sh17.4 billion shillings have been disbursed to public schools by the government for the second term of the education calendar.

The disbursement is for both the primary schools and the secondary schools.

Education CS George Magoha said schools now have no reason whatsoever to turn away learners when they reopen.

Out of the Sh17.5 billion, primary schools will receive Sh2.6 billion while secondary schools will take the rest of Sh14.8 billion.

This may come as a relief to parents or guardians with school-going children as the country is still reeling from the adverse effects of the COVID-19 pandemic.

On Tuesday, the Kenya Secondary School Association revealed that many school managers faced difficulties preparing for the reopening of schools as funds are minimal.

There have been startling reports saying that public schools are facing a cash limitation ahead of schools’ reopening next week.
