Rehema Muthamia, who has Kenyan roots, has become a sensation after winning the Miss World England 2021, paving the way for her to represent England at the Miss World 2021.

Muthamia, who hails from Mill Hill, beat 42 other Miss England 2021 finalists at the Heart of England Conference and Events Centre Coventry in Coventry, West Midlands on August 27.

The win made her England’s Miss World 2021 candidate together with Mister England 2021, Liam Royce Ulla, and she is set to represent the European powerhouse at the global event.

She will be competing representing England at the Miss World 2021 event scheduled for December 16 at the Coca-Cola Music Hall in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

Muthamia was born in England to Kenyan parents and spent part of her childhood in Kenya before moving to England, where she lives with her grandmother in Luton Bedfordshire.

The beauty queen speaks four languages and enjoys dancing salsa and bachata, even though she broke up with her boyfriend, Lorenzo Dixon in February 2019, weeks after a miscarriage.

Dixon was in July 2020 charged in court with stalking and harassment after he admitted in court to bombarding Muthamia with calls, emails and unwanted gifts in February this year.

She graduated from Sussex University in September 2020 with an integrated master’s degree in the field of genetics and won the inaugural Miss All African Colours England on February 13.

“I was always interested in the glitz and glam of beauty pageants growing up but never saw myself represented, there aren’t many women of colour in the competition,” she said then.

The special category was established to increase the representation of minority ethnic women in the competition that saw her secure her a place in the Miss England Final.

During her reign in the inaugural beauty competition, she raised money for Women’s Aid and she has been using her platform to raise awareness on domestic abuse.

Muthamia, herself a domestic abuse victim, expressed hope that other female victims will identify with her.

“I thought I could use the platform to reach out to women that I know or those who would identify with me and let them know that you can experience it but still come out the other side and still thrive," she said.
