Mumo Faith has emerged top in the 2020 Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) examinations after garnering 433 marks out of a possible 500.

Faith, who sat her KCPE exam at Kari Mwailu Primary School in Makindu, Makueni County.


She was followed by Wesonga Yvette with 432 marks in second position and Muriithi Angel Makena with 432 in third position, in the exams that were postponed due to the pandemic.

The results announced by Education CS George Magoha on Thursday showed girls did better in English, Kiswahili and Sign language while boys were better in Maths, Science and Social Studies.

Prof Magoha also announced that the national Form 1 selection exercise will be conducted on May 28, guaranteeing that the placement will be above board and based on merit.

The CS further announced that the Kenya government will offer 9,000 scholarships to bright and needy pupils in secondary schools across the country to ensure successful transition.
