Billionaire tycoon Chris Kirubi has stirred controversy by referring to marriage as enslavement during an interview on Churchill Show’s ‘The Journey’ series on Youtube.  

Kirubi, who was being interviewed by comedian Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill, advised men to get into marriage only if they have found the right partner to spend their life ‘in jail’ with.

“Marriage is enslavement, you have to be very careful. You have to agree to go into slavery, to go to a jail but not to go in and taste and get out. It is a permanent affair you’re jailed for life,” said the 79-year-old bachelor.

He went on to add: “If you marry a good woman, it’s just a pleasure. But there are some women it’s like they first went into the army before you marry them, because they are full of fighting mood. They are always fighting. So, it is luck. If you are lucky you get such a nice wife. God has to bless you. But if you are not lucky, Jesus, you will regret!”

The father of two, who also owns the Capital fm radio station, was however full of praise for the Ugandan women and how they treat their men ‘in jail’.

“They have hospitality……the Ugandan woman will sit down she’ll come to unlock my shoe when you get back home. She’ll be asking you ‘how was your office?’ ‘How was your journey to home?’ Then food is ready. Then when you want to go out she’s dressing you to go out.”

“You’ll never fight with them. They are very polite. If you have never experienced you better go to Uganda and go with one-way ticket. You may never come back,” he added gleefully.

Kirubi, however, also had some good words to describe their Kenyan counterparts.

“The Kenyan women have their own qualities. If you want to get rich you marry a good Kenyan woman. If she’s not noisemaking she will make you money. But it’s an inheritance we have. Each area they have their own characteristics.”

The tycoon expressed optimism that he was getting better and will beat the cancer he has been fighting in the recent years that has seen the hitherto outgoing man recoil into his lavish home.

"But going by the tests they run on me I am doing very well," he said.
