Safaricom has unveiled a collaboration with Vesen and Anga that seeks to attract more movie goers to the cinema halls through a dedicated M-Pesa Mini App.

Anga M-PESA Mini App, which is located in the M-Pesa Super App, will avail movie schedules, booking and ticketing at Anga CBD, Anga Diamond and Anga Sky cinemas.

“We are excited to partner with Safaricom to provide customers on M-PESA with a convenient way to view upcoming movies and book tickets through the Anga Mini App, said Anga Managing Director Kenneth Kimutai.

He added, “Through this partnership, we can reach customers directly on their phones and offer them a widely preferred payment choice to book their tickets.”

Anga seeks to draw the more than 7.4 million customers who have downloaded the M-Pesa Super App to theatres and sell extra tickets by offering enticing offers and ease of booking.

Anga joins more than 45 other Mini-Apps hosted on M-Pesa Super App in a bid to leverage Safaricom’s distribution and marketing opportunities on the app to earn transaction fees.

By March 2023, the total number of businesses onboarded on Lipa Na M-Pesa had increased to more than 606,000, transacting more than Sh1.6 trillion over the previous 12 months.

“The Anga M-Pesa Mini App seeks to provide movie goers with increased convenience, enabling them to view schedules and book tickets from wherever they are while drawing more customers to cinemas,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.

Ndegwa added, “This partnership with Anga goes beyond providing movie tickets and brings us closer to our ambition to make the M-PESA Super App a digital lifestyle enabler for our customers.”
