Gitonga says he plans to use his vast experience in the media and communications spheres to enhance the visibility of Governor Achan and development projects in Kwale County.
“I intend to revamp the image of the county and that of the new Governor Fatuma Achan as far publicity is concerned” Gitonga told Swala Nyeti in an interview.
He added: “The other major issue I plan to focus on is to ensure that the world knows what Kwale County is doing in terms of service delivery to the common mwananchi during my Governor’s tenure.”
The journalist launched his career as a Swahili reporter at Royal Media Services’ Citizen Radio eight years ago immediately after concluding his internship at the SK Macharia-owned media house.
“The vast skills I got in the media world I intend to apply in my job. I have worked for Royal Media Services since 2014,” he concluded.
Achani, who was the immediate former Governor Salim Mvurya's deputy, was declared winner in the August 9 election after flooring Hamadi Boga (ODM), Chirau Ali Mwakwere (Wiper), Gereza Dena (KANU), Lung'anzi Chai Mangale (PAA) and Sammy Ruwa (Independent).
