The Nairobi senatorial race has just gotten more crowded after gospel artiste Roy Mwatia alias Rufftone announced his intention to vie for the position in the 2022 General Election.

Rufftone made the announcement of his intention to appear on the ballot in 2022 during an interview on Churchill Show hosted by popular comedian Daniel Ndambuki alias Churchill.

“I am disclosing this for the first time in regards to what the future holds for Rufftone. You are looking at the new incoming Nairobi Senator, Mr Roy Smith Mwatia,” said Rufftone.

He is the newest musician moving into politics after others announced their bids, including Jackson Makini alias Prezzo, Francis Amisi alias Frasha and Gabriel Kagundu alias Gabu.

The Lampstand Records founder, who was involved in President Uhuru Kenyatta’s re-election campaigns, bust into the limelight with hit gospel tunes like Mwikulu, Tsinyanga Tsiwere, Mungu Baba.

Rufftone is a graphic designer, a music producer, Goodwill Ambassador for Public Diplomacy of the Republic of Korea and Special Envoy in the Ministry of Education.
