Former Churchill Show comedian David The Student, real name David Kangogo, has tested positive for Covid-19 just days after an ugly incident with a racist couple while driving a Lyft taxi in Washington, US.

A racist man went on a tirade against Kangogo after they refused to wear masks in the taxi David was driving despite his pleas for them to do so as is mandated by Lyft policies.

In a post on his Facebook page, the former comedian revealed that he had been feeling ill and started exhibiting symptoms linked with Coronavirus prompting him to go for testing.

“I got diagnosed with COVID-19. Now I am quarantined and I trust and believe I’ll get through this. Thank you all for the support I’ve been receiving. Thank you! Please stay safe, wear a mask, wash your hands and social distance,” he posted on Facebook.

This comes only a week after a video went viral in which he captured the racist couple accosting him and hurling racial slurs, in an incident which was widely covered by the media in the US.

David told US media he had picked the couple on his Lyft taxi for a seven-minute ride but trouble started when they removed their masks and refused to put them back on despite his pleas.

Instead the irked couple verbally attacked him and the man even attempted to urinate in his taxi and all he could do was to record the incident on his mobile phone out of fear.

“For me I was just thinking, get what exactly happened as they are going to flip this thing on me and make it look like I attacked them,” he told Komo News 4 channel.

Lyft has since banned the racial couple permanently from their taxi hailing service platform.

The racist man was also been fired by his employer on learning of the altercation.

David moved to the US back in 2008 to look for greener pastures as his comedy fortunes started dwindling and his appearance on Churchill Show which airs on NTV became minimal.

We at Swala Nyeti wish David Kangogo a quick recovery.
