BBC's Kenya correspondent Ferdinand Omondi on Tuesday night announced that he had finally proposed to his long-time girlfriend Caroline Njeri Ng’ang’a at a private ceremony here in Nairobi.

An exhilarated Omondi took to his Facebook and Twitter to announce that Caroline had said a big YES when he popped the big question as the rest of Kenyans celebrated Eid-al-Adha.


The senior African journalist shared pictures of the smiling couple after the proposal, with Caroline holding a card reading “He Asked” and Omondi holding one reading “I said Yes”.

The lovebirds have been dating for months and have in the recent weeks gone public with their relationship, with Omondi on many ocassions sharing his adoration for her on social media.
