Veteran Ugandan crooner and Afrigo Jazz band bass guitarist Samuel Kasule popularly known as Sammy Kasule is dead.
Kasule passed away on Tuesday 27th April 2021 in Amsterdam, the Netherlands en route to Sweden for further treatment at 69.
“It is with deep regret to report the death of our bass guitarist, Mr. Sammy Kasule,” said Afrigo Band in a statement today.
“Sammy had been on his way to Sweden for further treatment when at his stopover at Amsterdam it was assessed that he couldn’t continue with the journey without treatment.” added the statement.
Kasule moved to set base in Kenya in the late 70s when the political climate in Uganda was not conducive for him.

In 1985, Kasule founded Orchersta Vundumuna; a band whose base was at the Carnivore Restaurant in Nairobi.
Kasule played across many bands including Katikimu Light Collage, Super Kaumba, Le Noirs, Somajeko International Band, Makonde Band, Jambo talents Band, Orchestra Vundumuna before finally returning home to play with Afrigo Band.
Among his popular songs are "Ushirikiano", "Kukupenda", "Ndoto", "Ekitobero", and the English version of Nguashi Ntimbo's popular hit "Shauri Yako"
