Radio presenter and former tv host Joey Muthengi on Friday announced her exit from the afternoon show she hosts on Capital fm over what she said was to protect her mental health.

Joey, who has been hosting The Jam 984 show, said she was taking a break from her radio job because she felt tired .

“I just want to thank you all so much for embracing me on @thejam984 on @CapitalFMKenya. I will no longer be on that particular show but your support has meant the world to me. I need to take a break for now but I will be back n better as soon as I can. Hip Hop Heads unite!” she posted on Twitter on Friday.

Joey had earlier in the week tweeted that she was ‘tired’ and needed a break to replenish her energy, but unfortunately, many social media users took the chance to bash her instead.

The radio star has always been vocal about the importance of taking care of one’s mental health and has shared her sentiments freely on her social media platforms.

“I have always talked about the importance of mental health. The other day I tweeted that I was tired. Twitter wasn't kind about that but I never regret being open and honest about how I'm feeling. So if I need a break, that's all that is fam,” she posted on Twitter on Friday.

In another tweet, she thanked her employer Capital fm, which is owned by city tycoon Chris Kirubi, for allowing her to take a break to get herself back together.

Joey however did not reveal what is disturbing her peace and how long a break she intended to take, even as her media colleagues and online fans supported her and wished her well.
