Safaricom has launched the third edition of its annual Engineering Summit, a platform designed to bring together engineers, scientists, and tech enthusiasts to discuss the future of digital technology.
The three-day event, themed “Charting East Africa’s Digital Destiny,” aims to highlight how young innovators are driving Kenya’s engineering sector through technology, inclusivity, and sustainability.
Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa said the summit provides a space for the company’s engineers to showcase their skills while engaging with the broader tech community.
He noted that the event reaffirms Safaricom’s role in supporting young innovators in the digital space.
“This year’s summit is a dynamic platform that empowers Safaricom engineers to showcase their technical prowess and connect with the broader tech community. It is a testament to our commitment to being the technology partner of choice for young innovators on the digital landscape,” Ndegwa remarked.

The summit has drawn over 10,000 physical attendees, with many more participating online.
It features industry experts discussing artificial intelligence, fintech, and machine learning, focusing on their role in transforming businesses and everyday life. Interactive sessions will allow participants to exchange ideas on scaling innovations, improving efficiency, and delivering long-term impact.
In addition to discussions, the event showcases advancements in Kenya’s tech sector, including Safaricom’s engineering solutions in fintech, virtual reality experiences, and innovations from various partners.
Ndegwa said Safaricom remains dedicated to strengthening Kenya’s position in the global tech space through collaboration and knowledge-sharing.

The summit also aligns with Safaricom Decode, a platform dedicated to fostering engineering excellence, advancing financial inclusion, and promoting responsible technology use.
