Kenya Airways has expanded its global footprint by entering into a strategic codeshare agreement with Air India, enhancing connectivity between Africa, India, and other global destinations

This collaboration builds upon their existing interline partnership, offering travellers more seamless routes and booking options across the two continents.

Under this agreement, Kenya Airways will place its ‘KQ’ code on Air India’s flights between Nairobi and Delhi, providing African passengers with more convenient access to India’s major cities.

Additionally, the partnership will streamline travel to destinations across Asia-Pacific, thanks to Air India’s extensive network.

Julius Thairu, Chief Commercial and Customer Officer at Kenya Airways, emphasised that the partnership will bring greater convenience to passengers.

“We are delighted to expand our partnership with Air India, that will open up significant opportunities for our passengers,” Thairu stated.

"This codeshare agreement allows us to offer seamless connections to a wider range of destinations across both airlines’ networks, making travel easier and more convenient."

On its part, Air India will integrate its ‘AI’ code onto Kenya Airways’ twice-daily flights between Mumbai and Nairobi.

This will allow passengers arriving in Mumbai to connect effortlessly to key destinations such as Bangkok, Colombo, Dhaka, Malé, Melbourne, and Singapore.

The interline agreement between the two carriers further extends connectivity to 28 African cities, including Accra, Addis Ababa, Dar Es Salaam, Harare, Johannesburg, Cape Town, and Seychelles, linking them to 15 major Indian destinations such as Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Chennai, Delhi, Goa, Jaipur, and Kolkata.

Air India’s Chief Commercial Officer, Nipun Aggarwal, highlighted that the agreement aligns with the airline’s strategy to expand its presence in key global markets.

“Deepening our partnership with Kenya Airways aligns perfectly with Air India’s strategic vision of expanding our global footprint and strengthening our position in key markets,” said Nipun Aggarwal remarked.

“Our codeshare partnership will provide significant benefit to guests of both airlines, and also contribute to the overall growth of air travel between India and Africa.”

This collaboration underscores the growing significance of air travel between Africa and India, with Kenya Airways reinforcing its role as a key player in connecting the two regions.

Through this enhanced partnership, both airlines aim to provide travellers with greater efficiency, improved accessibility, and a hassle-free travel experience.
