Airtel Money customers have been handed a festive season lifeline with the launch of the “Rudishiwa transaction fee” offer.

This new initiative promises to revolutionise Paybill payments by giving back transaction fees as airtime. It is designed to keep users connected while delivering tangible value during the high-spending holiday period.

The offer, unveiled today, builds on the success of the December 2023 Rudishiwa campaign, where users were reimbursed transaction fees incurred on withdrawals.

This time, customers will receive 50 per cent of their Paybill transaction fees back as airtime, a move aimed at enhancing convenience and connectivity.

“Our main goal is to continuously give customers value, choice, affordability and convenience,” said Airtel Money Managing Director Anne Kinuthia Otieno during the company’s business update.

Acording to Otieno, Mobile money has become a primary mode of exchange and creating mechanisms to streamline this is crucial for societal well-being.

"Airtel Money remains committed to providing a seamless and convenient payment experience for customers and with the ongoing investments and strategic partnerships, we intend to continue expanding our reach and giving customers affordable value as they transact daily on our platform," Otieno added.

Airtel Money has partnered with leading providers, including Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC), Nairobi Water, Mombasa Water, DSTV, eCitizen, Expressway, and KAPS.

Customers can also use the platform for online payments with key e-commerce partners. In addition, partnerships with Equity Bank, KCB Bank, and Cooperative Bank enable customers to make payments across all merchant outlets nationwide.

With over 90,000 agents and 2,300 exclusive Airtel Money branches, the service has cemented its presence in Kenya’s financial ecosystem.

Airtel has also strengthened its distribution network through collaborations with retail giants such as Naivas Supermarket, where users can deposit and withdraw cash at all Naivas branches.

The Paybill Rudishiwa offer comes at a time when mobile money is solidifying its role as a critical tool for financial inclusion and economic activity in Kenya.

By integrating secure, convenient, and affordable payment solutions, Airtel Money has emerged as a competitive player in the country’s mobile money landscape.

To enjoy the Rudishiwa offer, customers simply dial *334#, select “Paybills and Till,” and choose “Airtel Paybills” for their transactions.

The service is also accessible via the My Airtel App, ensuring users enjoy a smooth and straightforward experience.

As Airtel Money continues to innovate, this latest initiative exemplifies its commitment to delivering value while fostering financial inclusivity for millions of Kenyans.
