The Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) has appointed Ahmed Farah as its new Chief Executive Officer.

With a rich tapestry of experience in economic development and trade, Farah is poised to steer the organisation towards a brighter future, enhancing Kenya's foothold in global commerce.

Farah steps into this pivotal role armed with an impressive portfolio. Previously the Country Director for TradeMark Africa (TMA) in Kenya, he led transformative initiatives that propelled the nation's economic agenda and fostered regional integration.

His knack for forging strategic public-private partnerships has resulted in a surge of international investments, modernising both infrastructure and trade systems in Kenya.

“Known for his results-oriented approach, Farah’s vision aligns closely with KNCCI’s commitment to enhancing Kenya’s competitive edge in the global market,” the board noted.

A staunch advocate for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), Farah has championed initiatives under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) framework, specifically aimed at empowering women and youth entrepreneurs.

His dedication to promoting sustainable trade practices and cultivating an investment-friendly environment underscores his vital role within KNCCI’s leadership.

"We look forward to his contribution in realising KNCCI's mission and vision," declared Dr. Erick Rutto, Chamber President and Chairperson of the ICGLR-Private Sector Forum.

Farah's influence stretches beyond KNCCI. As a member of Kenya's National Investment Council, appointed by President William Ruto, he plays a crucial role in shaping strategies that attract global investors and stimulate sustainable economic growth.

His involvement in a presidential think tank focused on rebuilding Kenya’s economy post-Covid-19 showcases his commitment to fostering resilience and inclusivity in the economic landscape.

Armed with an MA in International Development from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Commerce from Kenyatta University, Farah’s academic achievements complement his practical experience, positioning him uniquely to guide KNCCI in its mission to advance trade, investment, and economic resilience.

The board of directors expressed confidence that Farah will pursue its mandate and serve as a steadfast advocate for Kenya’s business community.

His leadership heralds a new chapter for KNCCI, one that promises to bolster economic growth and elevate the nation’s trade prospects on the world stage.
