All domestic flights into and out of zoned areas of Nairobi, Kajiado, Kiambu, Machakos and Nakuru counties shall cease to operate indefinitely from Monday March 29, 2021.
This is according to Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA), which issued a clarification on Monday, saying this follows the Presidential Executive Order No. 2 issued on Friday.
KCAA Director General Gilbert Kibe said the order for airlines to cease operations also affects international tourists on planned itineraries with tour operators and travel agents.
“Domestic flights outside the zoned areas may operate as normal with Kenyans, Residents and International Tourists reaching their destinations within the stipulated curfew limits,” said Kibe in the statement.

This comes a day after domestic airlines Safarilink and AirKenya issued statements telling its customers that they will continue to operate flights in the 5 zoned counties after Monday.
This also comes as stakeholders in the tourism industry led by Kenya Tourism Federation chairman Mohammed Hersi have appealed to the government to allow hoteliers and the tourism sector to operate with necessary measures to recover to avert huge job losses.
