Kenya Power, the main electricity distributor in Kenya, is advising its prepaid customers to stock up on electricity tokens before a planned system upgrade slated for this coming weekend.

The upgrade, aimed at improving service delivery, will necessitate a 24-hour outage of the prepaid token vending system.

“The prepaid token vending system will be unavailable from 10:00 PM, Sunday, 2nd June to 10:00 PM, Monday, 3rd June,” Kenya Power stated in a press release issued on Monday.

During this period, customers will be unable to purchase tokens from any of the usual vending points, including Kenya Power offices, M-PESA Paybill number 888880, Airtel Money, and banking channels.

“We therefore wish to advise our pre-paid customers to buy enough tokens before then to avoid any inconvenience,” the power company urged.

The upgrade is expected to enhance the overall customer experience by improving the efficiency and reliability of the prepaid system.

Kenya Power expressed its appreciation for customer understanding and cooperation during this temporary disruption.
