Safaricom has unveiled Eric Musyoki Musembi from Machakos County as the first winner of the Sh1 million monthly grand prize in the ongoing Gomoka na Go Monthly Promotion.

The 35-year-old Clinical Officer expressed his excitement after being declared the winner saying the money will cushion him during the current economic challenges in Kenya.

“When I received a call from Safaricom’s official line, 0722 000 000, informing me I had won KES 1 million, I was excited beyond measure. I heard about the promotion in the media, and I participated by purchasing All-in-One bundles and spinning the wheel.

The firstborn in a family of five says has been tasked with looking after his elderly parents and younger siblings and says he use part of the prize to take care of that responsibility.

“I had won data bundles before, but I never expected to win Sh1 million,” said Musyoki.

The new millionaire is considering to start a number of income-generating activities at home in Machakos, finish up some personal projects and settle accrued debts.

Safaricom unveiled the promotion in June to enable customers to access affordable data packages and purely enriched minutes plan and the chance to bag some substantial prizes.

The prizes include data bundles, instant M-Pesa cash prizes ranging from Sh250 to Sh10,000 with a grand prize of Sh1,000,000 being won each month.

“Through 'Gomoka na Go Monthly,' we are rewarding our customers while also extending to them invaluable support during these current economic challenges, and we congratulate Eric Musyoki and all winners so far,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.

He added: “Everyone stands a chance to win something - from instant M-PESA prizes and data bundles to the KES 1 million grand prize awarded each month.”

Safaricom says more than 186,000 customers have won daily instant cash prizes in the first month of the promotion., which is scheduled to run until September 18, 2023.

To take part, customers get a chance to purchase any Go monthly plans available on USSD code *544#, Safaricom.com or mySafaricom App, then proceed to spin the wheel to win various daily cash prizes and stand a chance to win Sh1 million every month.
