Bamburi Cement on Friday announced the appointment of Claudia Albertini Non-executive Director and Joyce Munene as Company Secretary as it enriches its gender diversity agenda.

The cement manufacturer says the two appointments cements the company’s reputation as having one of the most diverse statutory boards in the construction industry in Kenya.

“I’m delighted to welcome Claudia and Joyce to the company and Board. They are accomplished experts in their fields and will bring the requisite value creation across the innovative building solutions and sustainable construction sectors,” said Bamburi Cement Board Chairman Dr John Simba.

He added, “I look forward to Claudia and Joyce’s valuable contribution as the Board and management team work closely together to deliver the execution of Bamburi’s strategy, to achieve our commercial and portfolio priorities and deliver long-term value for shareholders.”

Claudia, an Italian citizen, has more than 26 years of experience in Finance and Accounting and is currently the Holcim Group’s Chief Financial Officer Asia Middle East Africa Region.

She has held various senior posts within Holcim Group Services in the last 23 years, among them Head of Business Services & Corporate Projects, Holcim Belgium's CEO and CFO.

She has also held the positions of Lead Regional Controller Europe (excluding UK), Regional Controller - UK, Spain, and Trading and Affiliates.

Claudia holds a Master’s Degree in Economics and Commerce from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore, Milan, Italy and European Baccalaureate from European School of Varese, Varese, Italy.

Similarly, Joyce is a notable Governance, Legal and Compliance professional and has vast experience in the financial services sector, Fast Moving Consumer Goods (FMCG) industry, as well as an Independent Corporate Governance Consultant.

She previously served as the Senior Legal Manager & Company Secretary at East African Breweries Limited, the Legal Services Manager & Assistant Group Company Secretary at Equity Bank Group, and Legal Officer at United Insurance Company.

Joyce holds a Master’s Degree in Business Administration (Strategic Management) from Jomo Kenyatta University of Agriculture & Technology, Bachelor of Laws (LLB) from University of Pune, India and a Diploma in Law from the Kenya School of Law (KSL).

This comes as Bamburi Cement is effecting its repositioning Strategy 2025: “Accelerating Green Growth" in a bid to offer leadership in innovation and sustainable building solutions.
