BAT’s regional office in Kenya has expanded its market to cover Malawi, Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe and Zambia added to more than 15 countries within Eastern Africa.

BAT says this is part of its business transformation plan, with BAT Kenya MD Crispin Achola’s roles being expanded to Cluster Head, BAT East and Southern Africa Markets, overseeing over 20 markets.

BAT Kenya says the move has also enhanced the structure in its Kenya business while elevating the country’s profile in the region as a source of highly skilled manpower.

BAT Kenya currently contributes about USD 100 million (about Sh13.7 billion) annually in foreign exchange to Kenya.

In 2019, the firm received the Solid Rock Commendation (Lifetime Achievement) Award at the Kenya Exporter of the Year Awards, organised by Kenya Exports Promotion Council.

“The BAT regional office in Nairobi will have oversight of over 20 markets in East & Southern Africa, including Uganda, Rwanda, Mauritius, La Reunion, Malawi, Mozambique, Angola, Zimbabwe and Zambia. This move further enhances Kenya’s profile as a major commercial hub and Africa's business capital,” said BAT Kenya and East & Southern Africa Head of Business Communication & Sustainability Mimi Mavuti.

He added, “The Kenya regional office’s expanded mandate provides an opportunity to accelerate sustainable growth and value delivery for over 4,000 local shareholders, and other stakeholders including over 80,000 Kenyans in our value chain.”
