Safaricom on Monday announced a partnership with online fashion e-commerce platform Shop Zetu that will see the Shopzetu Mini App launched inside the M-Pesa Super App.

The Shopzetu Mini App will see more than 7 million M-Pesa Super App customers purchase and make payments for various fashion items across more than 200 vendors within the app.

The partnership with Safaricom will see Shop Zetu dispatch and deliver a variety of products to customers across the country within three days after they make their order.

The customer will get an SMS that has a link through which they can track their orders once the items are shipped.

“We are delighted to partner with Safaricom and leverage their digital and financial solutions to empower our more than 200 partners,” said Shopzetu CEO Marvin Kiragu.

He added, “The Shopzetu M-Pesa Mini App expands our reach to more than 7 million customers while also providing Kenyans with access to a trusted and reliable source for the latest fashion trends.”

M-Pesa customers will access the Shopzetu Mini App under the “Services” option on the M-Pesa Super App.

“As part of our purpose to Transform Lives, we are looking to empower millions of entrepreneurs across the country to grow their businesses and to run them more efficiently,” said Safaricom CEO Peter Ndegwa.

He added, “By partnering with Shop Zetu, we will enable hundreds of fashion business owners to reach millions of customers on M-PESA, while connecting our customers with access to a wide variety of trusted, affordable, and quality fashion.”

The partnership seeks to enable Shop Zetu vendors to expand their market share by leveraging the wide reach of the M-Pesa Super App that currently has 40 Mini-Apps.

Safaricom says it seeks to support especially SMEs through M-Pesa Mini Apps to have their own Android and iPhone Apps minus investing in most of the needed setup and distribution.

The businesses benefit from Safaricom’s marketing, distribution, and reach.

The M-Pesa Super App is Kenya’s leading Super App and seeks to avail its marketing, distribution and reach to small and medium businesses through similar partnerships.
