Diamond Trust Bank Kenya Limited (DTB) has signed an MOU with the Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya in a move set to enhance two-way trade between Kenya and China.

The move is expected to make DTB the financial services partner for the Belt and Road Initiative investors under the Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya (Guangdong Association).

This was announced during the early celebrations for the upcoming Chinese New Year.

DTB CEO and MD Nasim Devji says the move will enhance the economic development of the country by funding Chinese businesses in Kenya and Kenyan businesses in Guangdong province.

“We welcome all members of the business community interested in trade in the Guangdong province to access financing and support from DTB. Additionally, through our existing China desk, DTB is providing a one-stop banking solution to traders tapping into the Chinese market courtesy of the banks’ link to HBL in China,” said Devji.

“We appreciate DTB’s support for Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya. Our chamber will be a bridge for entrepreneurs from Guangdong province doing business in Kenya and with the DTB partnership, members will enjoy access to superior banking services,” said Xian Wei Kin, President of the Kenya Canton Chamber of Commerce.

The deal will see members of the Canton Chamber of Commerce in Kenya use DTB’s banking services including operating corporate and individual bank accounts, remittance services and lending services.
