Hotels in Murang'a town and those located along the Murang'a-Sagana highway have registered a high number of guests this week due to the Mashujaa day celebrations.

Most hotels and apartments in the area are fully booked ahead of the most anticipated event.

"We have recorded a large number of occupancy just like the one we usually handle during the December festivities," Karanja said.

In Sagana town, most hotels had already been fully booked with the owners thanking the national government for taking the event to the counties.

Joseph Mathai from Maya gardens said celebration being taken to the counties, will give a chance for the economy to grow.

"By the celebrations coming to Kirinyaga County, at least we've felt the warmth of the government, I also urge the next regime to ensure they continue with the same so as have the presence of the government felt even at the grassroots level," Mathai said.

His sentiments have been echoed by Edwin Munyu, the manager at Havila Resort who said that the visitors have been enjoying other activities such as fishing, cooking, and swimming.

"Those around have enjoyed fishing activities where we cook the fish they catch and also some are enjoying swimming in the river Tana and also archery," Muhunyu said.

The celebrations are underway at Wang'uru stadium, Kirinyaga county.
