African Originals has launched the 5.8 Gin & Tonic, Kenya’s inaugural ready-to-drink (RTD) gin and tonic, which it touts to be crafted entirely from locally-sourced ingredients.
The momentous unveiling is testament that Kenya’s beverage industry players can manufacture homegrown products targeting both the local and international markets.
The global RTD drinks industry has witnessed an annual growth rate of more than 10 per cent with Africa being right at the center of the significant percentage of this boom
The new 5.8 Gin & Tonic comes in three distinct flavours:
• Classic – infused with baobab from Kilifi, in Kenya’s coastal region.

• Spiced Orange – a vibrant blend of oranges and chilis sourced countrywide.
African Originals says each can of the new RTD celebrates Kenyan agriculture, supporting local farmers and combining botanicals harvested together with the Maasai community.
