OPPO has officially unveiled its new A-Series smartphone, the OPPO A18, in Kenya.

The new device features a large 5,000mAh battery, is powered by MediaTek Helio G85 and has sufficient memory and storage and comes with enhanced performance and battery life.

OPPO A18 boasts of a 90Hz Sunlight Display and an Ultra Volume Mode that offers the user an outstanding experience while also offering immersive entertainment.

Design

The A18 retains the iconic OPPO design aesthetic that merges vibrant colors with superb textures and comes in two elegant color options; Glowing Blue and Glowing Black.

Both models have the exclusive OPPO Glow design technique, giving the back cover a subtle shimmering appearance for a fingerprint-resistant, dual matte finish having glittery details.

The lineup also come with the Ultra-Slim Retro Design like previous OPPO A series models.

Due to its 2D Premium Design, the phone is comfy in the palm with its sleek and lightweight appearance and measures only about 8.16mm in thickness and weighs only about 188g.

The OPPO A18 features a Side Fingerprint Unlock functionality, which permits for swift and seamless unlocking of the device even when it is held in one hand.

Display

The OPPO A18 unveils a brand-new 90Hz Sunlight Display that can reach up to 720 nits of brightness in High Brightness Mode for better reading or viewing experience in bright light.

The device features a 6.56-inch HD+ display with a 90Hz refresh rate and 96 per cent DCI-P3 color gamut and All-Day AI Eye Comfort, which minimizes the straining on the eyes.

Camera

It is equipped with an 8MP main camera and a 2MP bokeh camera, which both work with OPPO's advanced portrait algorithm for impressive bokeh light spots in the background and highlight the subject in Portrait Mode.

The 5MP front camera delivers stunning selfies and improved video call quality, while the Portrait Retouching features can adjust the beautification levels on front and rear cameras.

Performance

The OPPO A18 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G85 platform for smoother and more efficient performance.

With OPPO's exclusive Dynamic Computing Engine, the A18 performance has been verified via 36-Month Fluency Protection tests done in the OPPO lab and recorded an average aging rate of less than 10 per cent.

It comes with a 4GB RAM+128GB ROM, and RAM Expansion technology, letting it convert free ROM space into up to 4GB of RAM to keep the phone running smoothly in heavy usage.

It introduces the Ultra Volume Mode, a software feature that helps amplify the speaker volume by 300 per cent for easier calls and watching short videos in noisy environments.

Battery

The A18 comes equipped with a large 5000mAh battery which, on full charge, will remain with more than 20 per cent battery life even after 12 hours of work and daily activities.

OPPO’s All-Day Charging Protection uses AI to learn users' charging habits and intelligently schedules charging to ensure safety and efficiency during overnight or extended charging.

Moreover, All-Day AI Power Saving assures support for 25 hours all-time standby even at a low battery level of 5 per cent.

Durability

The new phone has an IP54 dustproof and waterproof rating, with IPX4 Water Resistance, which offers protection against water splashes or humid environments.

OPPO A18 has passed six major tests, including physical drops, water, radiation, climate damage, repeated small drops, and signal stability tests assuring the user of its durability.

OPPO A18 will be available in 4GB RAM + 128GB ROM at a Recommended Retail Price of Sh20,000 across all OPPO stores countrywide and E-commerce platforms.
