Xiaomi has officially unveiled in Kenya its latest smartphone, the Redmi 12, which boasts of upgraded features and is bound to heighten the stiff competition in the mid-range segment.

The recommended retail price of Redmi 12, which promises the user a superb entertainment experience and a smooth operating system, starts from Sh20,799 in Kenya.

The new device features a 6.79-inch +FHD DotDisplay screen, with a 2460 × 1080 resolution, the largest so far in the Redmi series, and an adaptive 90Hz refresh rate for better viewing.

The newly unveiled Redmi 12 is SGS Low Blue Light certified, and its User Mode 3.0 permits the user to watch their favourite content for extended periods without extra eye strain.

Its triple-camera set up features a 50MP Main Camera, 8MP Ultra-Wide Camera and a 2MP Macro Camera and offers 7 popular film camera filters to enhance the user’s photography.

Redmi 12 comes in three variants;

4GB RAM + 128GB option at Sh20,799

• 8GB RAM + 128GB variant at Sh22,099

• Premium 8GB RAM + 256GB at Sh24,099

The new elegant smartphone by unveiled by Xiaomi is only 8.17mm1 thick, has an appealing glass back and an entirely new camera design and a more comfortable grip for the user.

Redmi 12 has a IP53.2 rating and comes equipped with an 18W Type-C fast charging port and a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The new device is available in three color variants - Midnight Black, Sky Blue, and Polar Silver.

Redmi 12 is powered by the MediaTek Helio G88 processor, features a processor clocked at up to 2.0GHz, with an expandable storage space of up to 1TB.

According to Xiaomi, its 5000mAh battery provides offers 23 days of standby, 133 hours of music playback, 26 hours of online use, or 16 hours of video playback.

It also comes with a side fingerprint sensor and is usable as a remote control with infrared for home devices and is equipped with a powerful speaker for more captivating audio.
