Huawei has launched the Huawei Women Developers (HWD) program.

The program seeks to encourage upcoming women developers to lead in creating world-changing tools and applications.

The HWD program is open to all women from across the globe and is intent on encouraging more women to join technological advancement through innovation.

The program provides participants with platforms and opportunities for career development and skill training.

Huawei called for women to be given support and more opportunities to access education and training to be competitive in the digitally growing economy, saying equipping women with such skills promotes social integration, inclusivity and diversify societies.

Huawei Senior Vice President Chen Lifang said the firm believes women will lead technological innovation and hoped that the HWD program will help women leverage their talents and unique value.

It would also give them the opportunities to show their leadership abilities and that would help make the world a better place.

Huawei seeks to create a platform for women developers to enable them to exchange ideas and develop their skills while offering special incentives to women developers through another of their existing programs; The Shining-Stat program.

the Program features participants who come up with outstanding projects in campaigns and get invitations to official Huawei events.

Huawei has launched similar programs for women in other countries including South Africa, Bangladesh, Ireland and Argentina.

The Huawei Women Developers program is the newest initiative that the tech company has taken as part of its commitment to promoting gender equality with over 30 per cent of trainees in Huawei's other ICT training programs being women.
