Billionaire techpreneur Elon Musk is expected to step down from the heading Twitter after majority of the millions of users of the social media platform voted for his exit.
“Should I step down as head of Twitter? I will abide by the results of this poll,” Musk tweeted on Sunday night after sharing the poll on Twitter.
More than 17 million people voted in the poll that lasted 12 hours and majority of the 17 million people who took part in the poll voted ‘Yes’ to support him stepping down.
“As the saying goes, be careful what you wish, as you might get it,” tweeted the Tesla co-founder and CEO.

It remains unclear who Musk will choose to replace him as the head of Twitter and whether he is serious that he will abide by the outcome of the unexpected 12-hour Twitter poll.
“No one wants the job who can actually keep Twitter alive,” he teased later.
Controversy surrounds Musk’s short tenure at the helm of Twitter after he completed the purchase the social media giant at $44 billion back in October and started initiating changes.
The controversial changes he is instigating includes a plan to remove all legacy verification badges in the next few months and introducing a $7.99 a month paid-for verification.
