Chinese smartphone manufacturer Oppo launched its latest device, Oppo Reno 4, in Kenya on Monday, upping the competition in the mid-range smartphone category in the local market.

Oppo had been teasing Reno 4 on all its social media platforms for weeks ahead of the online launch on Monday.

The new phone in the Reno series boasts of a 6.4″ AMOLED front screen with 1080 by 2400 pixels and an aspect ratio of 20:9 (411 ppi) and an 83.5% screen to body ratio.

Oppo Reno 4 also has dual selfie cameras as well as facial unlocking feature and in-display fingerprint reader.

It runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 720G chip, 8GB RAM and 128GB storage and the phone supports dual nano-Sim cards alongside a slot for a microSD card.

The smartphone also boasts of a ColorOS 7.2 and Android 10 and an AI-enhanced smart sensor for smoother and convenient touch-free controls.

The selfie cameras are 32MP primary and a 2MP depth sensor and four-camera horizontal back setup; 48MP primary, 8MP ultrawide, a 2MP macro sensor and a 2MP monochrome sensor.

The phone comes with a 4015mAh battery, a VOOC 4.0 charger, USB-C port and were launched in Galactic Blue and Space Black colours.

Oppo also launched its first smartwatch in Kenya, which will come in two sizes; 46mm and 41mm, and comes fitted with a 1.6″ AMOLED screen and 301 ppi and 3ATM water resistance.

The Watch runs on a Qualcomm Snapdragon 3100 chip and an Apollo3 chip and comes with 1GB RAM and 8GB storage.

Those in Kenya can pre-order Reno 4 at Oppo branded stores or Jumia from Monday until September 28 for a retail price of Sh39,999.
