Nation Media Group (NMG) on Thursday launched podcasts on its website which was revamped toward leveraging on the digital revolution.

NMG said among the first podcasts to broadcast on the site is an eight-part series investigation into blogger Bogonko Bosire’s disappearance.

The media house said the podcasts will also feature daily news updates from its editors on the top stories expected in the newspaper and TV.

The listed firm majorly owned by the Aga Khan, seeks to use podcasts to attract the youth who have been drifting away and rake in more revenue.

The NMG Editorial Director Mutuma Mathiu has recently stressed on the need for the company to attract and retain Kenya’s majority youth.

Veteran tv journalist James Smart, a former KTN News anchor, has been hired by the regional powerhouse to be the podcast editor.

The media group has been seeking new innovative ways to reverse its dwindling revenue streams that mainly relied on its legacy media.

Smart noted that podcast listenership in Kenya is highest among the youth even as the popularity of the medium has been growing steadily.
