Netflix has announced the introduction of a free plan in Kenya as the company aims at expanding its Video on Demand (VoD) presence in the country.

The free plan will be rolled out starting Tuesday. It will allow fans to enjoy almost all content from Netflix on their android mobile devices completely free of charge.

The Director of Product Netflix Innovation Cathy Conk said the company is giving their audience a chance to experience stories provided on Netflix.

“At Netflix, we want everyone to be able to enjoy the suspense of Blood & Water, the romance of Bridgerton, and the adventure of Army of the Dead. Now we’re giving audiences in Kenya the chance to experience these stories for themselves, completely free of charge," said Conk.

She added that this presented a great opportunity for those who have never watched Netflix before.

“If you’ve never watched Netflix before, this is a great way to experience our service. We hope it’s a great match and that many of the people who try our free plan love Netflix so much that over time they upgrade to a full, paid subscription so you can enjoy our full catalogue on your TV or laptop as well,” Conk added.
