This Saturday, a rare spectacle awaits at Muthaiga Golf Club as twenty young Kenyan golfers go head-to-head with seasoned professionals in a thrilling challenge at the Magical Kenya Open 2025.

Thanks to Absa Bank Kenya, the promising talents will step onto hole 13, a par-3, for the 2025 Absa ‘Beat the Pro Junior Golfers Challenge’, where they will take their best shots—literally—against the pros.

The format is simple but high-stakes: the professionals take their shots first, and the juniors must land their ball closer to the hole.

Those who succeed will not only earn bragging rights but also walk away with a cash prize.

According to Peter Waweru, Head of Brand and Marketing at Absa Bank Kenya PLC, the challenge will see professional golfers take the first shot before the juniors attempt to land their ball closer to the hole.

Those who succeed will earn more than just bragging rights.

“If the junior succeeds, they will not only be the hero of the day but will also win an Absa Junior Account loaded with Sh50,000. Every junior who beats the pro will win the same prize,” Waweru said.

Aspiring participants, aged between 12 and 18 years with a handicap index of 9.0, can register for a shot at making the final list of 20, with four reserves also being selected.

The chosen juniors must commit to spending the entire Saturday at Muthaiga Golf Club, where the competition will unfold.

The challenge unfolds against the backdrop of the Magical Kenya Open 2025, presented by Absa, one of Africa’s most prestigious golfing events and a key stop on the DP World Tour.

Scheduled to run from 20th to 23rd February, the tournament continues to enhance Kenya’s reputation as a premier golfing destination, attracting elite players from across the globe.
