Godwin Karuga posted 100 stableford points to be declared the overall winning team during the 9th leg of the KCB East Africa Golf Tour featuring 202 players at Nakuru Golf Club on Saturday.

Karuga’s team of Dr MS Malik, Nicholas Karoki and Geoffrey Wafula beat Titus Lusaka, Mathew Maiyo, Mandeep Sahota and Amardeep Jajuha who carded 95 stableford points.

The two teams are now set to join eight others that have already qualified for the grand finale of the tour scheduled for November at the prestigious Karen Country Club in Nairobi.

“I have a very amazing four-ball. We did not know each other going into the first tee but teamwork, coordination and hard work gave us the victory today. We will now continue practicing for the grand finale since we have time,” Kiragu said after receiving his prize.

Handicap 10 Kericho golfer Collins Kipkirui carded 21 points in the first 9 and 22 in the back 9 to emerge the overall winner with 43 stableford points at the picturesque golf course.

Prof John Muriithi, playing off handicap 10, was crowned the men winner with 40 stableford points, while Felistah Njeri, playing off handicap 20, emerged the lady winner with 33 points.

Handicap 9 golfer Tony Tugee emerged the guest winner with 36 stableford points while KCB Western Regional Business Manager Eliud Siganga playing off handicap 26 bagged the staff prize with 37 points.

Jastej Sehmi, who played off handicap 22, was awarded the junior golfer prize with a juniors’ and ladies’ clinic following on Sunday afternoon and attracting 500 contestants.
